Our Philosophy & Models

Gadara Farmers have knowledge in Permaculture, Equiculture, Human Animal Bond and Biophilia which have become central to our inclusive farming opportunities and outcomes. We align with green care and care farming to promote farm opportunities for all abilities and ages. Farming is a great antidote to mental ill-health and isolated indoor screen-based living.

Our ‘Farmers in Practice’ notice improvement in wellbeing and stamina for physical skills and mental processing with a sense of community and belonging fostered along the way. Time is spent in nature contributing to our Old School Farming Methodology and learning how to grow produce and look after animals together, while nurturing and sustaining the land that provides for us.

Research has shown that outdoor programs are effective in increasing wellbeing across a number of outcomes including physical markers such as reducing blood pressure and heart rate, as well as managing stress (cortisol levels), creating belonging and strengthening connections. We are very proud of our community team and the social connectivity we cultivate and nurture every day.

“The ultimate goal of farming is not the growing of crops, but the cultivation and perfection of human beings.”
